 The House

The entrance door to this palatial, colonial style home signifies a style of  life characterised by understated luxury with attention to every detail.

Majestic timbers, carefully crafted, form the framework to the private collection of paintings and sculptures owned by the family.

The incomparable magic of original works of art gives a delightful touch to each room of the house. Its owners, Mariana and José, create a relaxed, refined and elegant atmosphere typical of Salta's traditional families. The comfortable living rooms make a splendid setting for each season of the year. Curled up in front of a blazing log fire, drinking a hot mug of chocolate in winter while outside enjoys full sunshine.

In summer, fresh breezes blow off from. The nearby hills on to the wide verandahs
surrounding the beautiful, spacious gardens where one can enjoy the crystal clear waters of  the swimming pool.

On one of the verandahs surrounding the large garden, a mud oven cooks delicious empanadas and other local and South American dishes. A barbecue cooks exeptional Argentinian meat which is accompanied by excellent regional wines.

The Wine

Wine plays a especial part in the rich history of a family who have been in the business since 1850. In the business since 1850 without doubt, the family pride is San Pedro de Yacochuya a estate which treasures in its high altitude vineyards at 2,000 meters adobe sea level.

The unique combination of soil and climate produces wines of great personality which can be enjoyed in the ideal setting of the wine-cellar of El Lagar. This cool, cosy cellar,  reminiscent of spanish taverns, brings out the best in its wine. After an evening savouring the secrets of the cellar, sleep between crisp, white sheets and enjoy a deep Saltanian sleep.

Next morning begin the day in a leisurely manner. Slowly wake, take an relaxing shower, dry off with large, fluffy towels then breakfast with hot rolls and delicious homemade jams. A fine start to the new day.
